Henkel Ibérica sells its bleach factory in Seville to PHI Industrial Acquisitions
Henkel Ibérica reached an agreement to sell its bleach production plant located in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville).
The transaction is expected to close at the beginning of October. According the German multinational, “the Seville production plant is relatively small and meets just the local market needs and geographically, it is well located for bleach consumers from the South of Spain and Portugal”. The plant annually produces about 60.000 tons of bleach. PHI and Henkel have agreed to a long-term agreement to meet the bleach supply needs from the plant of Alcala de Guadaira. All employment agreements will be transferred to the subsequent purchaser of the facilities without any change, according to applicable legal standards. The transfer of the manufacturing center does not affect the commercialization of the bleach by Henkel. The company leads this market with its three brands: ‘Neutrex’, ‘Conejo’ and ‘Estrella’.
In this way, Henkel outsources the production of a factory over which there has been speculation in the market about its sale or outsourcing since 2011, as Alimarket Non Food published. Currently, Henkel Ibérica has two production centers in Montornés del Vallés (Barcelona), and other four of own distribution, in Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara), Navalcarnero (Madrid), Montornés del Vallès, and Lisbon in the Iberian Peninsula. Moreover, it has three R&D centers and an R&D “spin-off” to develop adhesives on a worldwide scale. We must remember that in the last years, Henkel Ibérica has been gradually reducing up to 5 plants, the last in Alcalá de Guadaira, from its wide manufacturing net in the Iberian Peninsula. In 2012 the Iberica subsidiary achieved sales, produced by the three cleaning, personal care and stickers business, of 503.5 million (-7.4%). Around the world, in 2012 Henkel achieved sales of 16,510 M€ (+3.8%) with adjusted operating profit of 2,335 M€ (+15.1%).
